A great evil has come to the kingdom of Dàxi. The Banished Prince has returned to seize power, his rise to the dragon throne aided by the mass poisonings that have kept the people bound in fear and distrust.

Ah la fantasy en VO, pas facile, pas facile.

Mais j'ai fini par m'y habituer et même apprécier la vraie plume de l'autrice. Et puis, j'étais contente de retrouver Ning et Kang. Les voici plongés bien malgré eux au cœur d'une lutte pour le pouvoir, mais est-ce vraiment que cela ?

Avoir cette fois une alternance de points de vue était cool. J'ai aimé connaître les pensées de Kang qui était jusqu'alors bien mystérieux. J'ai eu l'impression d'être omnisciente, de voir ce qui se passait dans les deux camps. Chacun assemble les pièces du puzzle à sa façon pour mieux découvrir qui se cache derrière tout ces complots.

La guerre semble plus proche que jamais, le mysticisme chinois s'en mêle et on suit maintenant le parcours initiatique de Ning à travers les contrées. On en apprendra plus sur les origines du poison et du mal qui s'empare de Dàxi. On s'éloigne aussi totalement de la compétition et du palais. C'était déroutant mais j'ai fini par aimer ce voyage ainsi que ses rencontres.

Finalement, l'histoire se devine facilement et il n'y a pas de réel plot twist. Pour autant, j'ai été captivée et j'étais prise dans la bataille au côté de Ning et Kang.

Je préfère ne pas trop en dire à ce stade pour éviter de vous spoiler. J'ajouterai juste que la fin était rapide mais intense, les descriptions plutôt trash y étant pour beaucoup.

Sinon, la romance est toujours au second plan? J'ai aimé la façon dont elle est abordée, par petites touches. Elle reste mignonne et apporte son petit quelque chose. Il y a même une romance F/F, déjà évoquée dans le tome 1, qui se confirme.

Enfin, la notion de confiance est très présente. A qui Ning peut vraiment se fier ? Kang est-il de son côté ? Seul le temps et une dose de courage pourront répondre à ces questions.
